In the second quarter of 2026, five wolves were removed in Carinthia in compliance with the regulation and the law, as the State of Carinthia and the responsible Deputy Governor Martin Gruber (ÖVP) announced.

Balance sheet of the second quarter

As the State of Carinthia announced on Friday, a total of five wolves were removed between April 1 and June 30, 2026. According to the state's information, these were three damage wolves and two risk wolves. The removals were carried out exclusively on the basis of the Carinthian Risk Wolf Regulation and the Carinthian Alpine and Pasture Protection Act.

As emphasized by the State of Carinthia, "bei jedem einzelnen Wolfsabschuss die Einhaltung der Kärntner Risikowolfsverordnung sowie des Kärntner Alm- und Weideschutzgesetzes genauestens überprüft" worden.
