The Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro was officially nominated on Saturday as the presidential candidate for the October 4 election at a convention of his right-wing Liberal Party in São Paulo, and is running against left-wing incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

At a congress of the Partido Liberal (PL) in São Paulo, Flávio Bolsonaro received the nomination on Saturday as the challenger to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The 45-year-old senator, the eldest son of the imprisoned former President Jair Bolsonaro, presented himself before roughly 500 cheering supporters as the continuation of his father's political project, honoring him as "the most significant leader of the Right that Brazil has ever had." During his speech, to the applause of his supporters, Flávio Bolsonaro declared: "The blood of Bolsonaro flows here," while slapping his arm.
