On Saturday, a forest fire broke out on the Hochstein near Lienz in East Tyrol, which the Lienz Volunteer Fire Department brought under control with 18 personnel and three vehicles; no one was injured, and the cause of the fire initially remained unclear.
Deployment on the Hochstein
The fire occurred on the Hochstein above Lienz, the district capital of the East Tyrolean district of Lienz in the state of Tyrol. According to current findings, a section of forest on the Hochstein caught fire on Saturday, although the exact circumstances are still unclear. As police announced, no obvious cause of the fire has been determined so far.
The Lienz Volunteer Fire Department was alerted on Saturday afternoon and, according to its own statements, deployed three vehicles and 18 personnel. On site, the responders determined that it was a more extensive vegetation fire that had to be brought under control quickly to prevent it from spreading to adjacent woodland and meadow areas.
