Former German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer will stand trial on charges of making false statements to a Bundestag investigative committee examining the collapse of the passenger car toll, the Berlin Regional Court confirmed on Thursday.

The Charges

The court announced it has allowed the indictment brought by the Berlin public prosecutor's office against the 51-year-old CSU politician. A trial date before the Economic Criminal Chamber has not yet been set.

Scheuer's co-accused, former State Secretary Gerhard Schulz, also faces charges of knowingly providing false testimony during the inquiry. Both men firmly reject the accusations, according to their defense teams.
