Four people were killed on Saturday in a helicopter crash near the Vista Chinesa in the Tijuca National Park in Rio de Janeiro, three of them Colombian tourists.

The accident was confirmed by Diana Páez, Colombia's Consul General in Rio de Janeiro, to the AFP news agency. She stated that the three women killed were tourists from Colombia. The fourth person on board was, according to her, not Colombian. Páez made no comment on the nationality of the other victim or the exact sequence of the crash.

The crash site is located at the Vista Chinesa viewpoint, a pavilion popular with visitors that offers a sweeping view over the city. According to the Brazilian daily O Globo, the helicopter was returning from a private sightseeing flight over the city. On board, alongside the three Colombian tourists, was the pilot, who also died in the impact.
