The FPÖ has triggered a wave of outrage with the pop song "Airbert One – Der Remigrationssong," while the ÖVP criticizes the song as a new low in political confrontation and simultaneously levels accusations against the Freedom Party over alleged attacks on the police.

A pop song as a political statement

The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) has sparked a broad political debate with the release of the song "Airbert One – Der Remigrationssong." The video shows happy women singing along to the lyrics in their car, blonde babies sleeping on a train, and families dancing in a park – interspersed with images reminiscent of Austria's tourism ads featuring lakes, mountains, and the Burgtheater. The staging is set to upbeat pop music with the chorus: "Remigration – tschüss, tschüss, tschüss. Österreich ist frei!" The line "Der Flieger hebt ab, leicht und frei, Remigration, la-la-la-la" is sung by female vocalists against a summery backdrop. According to the report, the song represents an attempt to translate the politically charged concept of "remigration" into a pop-cultural format.
