The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) is preparing a popular complaint with the media authority KommAustria against the appointment of Clemens Pig as ORF Director General, as Christian Hafenecker announced on Wednesday at a press conference in Vienna.

The complaint is directed at the selection process for the ORF leadership, which according to the FPÖ's assessment exhibited "ganz klare Verstöße gegen die Ausschreibung" ("clear violations of the call for applications"). Hafenecker declared that it was "vollkommen klar, dass die Bestellung von Generaldirektor Pig völlig rechtswidrig gewesen ist" ("completely clear that the appointment of Director General Pig was entirely unlawful"). The party sees this as a "Scheinverfahren" ("sham proceeding") whose outcome had been determined from the start. Hafenecker also spoke of "Postenschacher auf offener Bühne" ("horse-trading over posts in the open").
