The four riders cooperated well, sharing the work and keeping the gap above 30 seconds as they entered the final lap.

In the closing kilometers, Dversnes positioned himself smartly and launched his sprint at the right moment to secure his team’s first Grand Tour stage win. Uno-X have been aggressive throughout the race, and the Norwegian’s victory rewarded their attacking approach.

Behind the breakaway, Dutch sprinter Dylan Groenewegen led home the main field in seventh place, with Britain’s Ethan Vernon ninth. The result denied the pure sprinters an opportunity on a stage that had been earmarked for a bunch finish.

Felix Gall, the Austrian GC contender, crossed the line in 61st place on the day. When asked by a journalist if his goal remained catching overall leader Jonas Vingegaard, Gall replied: „Nein, es ist nicht mein Ziel Jonas einzuholen, ich will auf das Podest.“ He sits 2 minutes 50 seconds behind the Danish rider.

Vingegaard retains the maglia rosa with a lead of 2:26 over Portugal’s Afonso Eulalio and 2:50 over Gall. The tight margins set the stage for a tense final week.

Sunday’s fast, flat test through the streets of Milan was the last chance for the sprinters before the mountains return. The next stage takes the peloton into Switzerland, starting in Bellinzona and ending with a summit finish in Cari in the Ticino Alps after just 113 racing kilometers.

That short but intense day will likely reshape the general classification and could provide Gall with the terrain to launch his podium challenge. The Giro continues through demanding stages in the coming days before concluding on 31 May.
