On the site of the former Berlin-Tegel Airport, the "District of the Future" is being created step by step with apartments, a university, start-ups, and experimentation areas, as the state-owned Berlin TXL Management GmbH reports.

From Runway to Real-World Lab

Five years after the Berlin TXL Management GmbH took over a large part of the area at the beginning of August 2021, the project is visibly taking shape. "By now, 42 companies and institutions with around 450 employees work at the site," reports the Managing Director of Berlin TXL Management GmbH, Frank Wolters. In the long term, the site is to accommodate up to 1,000 companies with around 20,000 employees, active in the fields of mobility, energy, materials, sensor technology, and digital infrastructure.
