The City of Vienna has frozen funding for four additional kindergartens after the City Court of Audit reported indications of suspected misuse of funding; around 450 children are affected.

The City of Vienna has suspended funding for four additional kindergartens because the City Court of Audit had reported indications of a presumably improper use of funding. As a result, according to the city, around 450 children are losing their previous kindergarten spot. The affected facilities must temporarily cease operations, according to the city.

Previously, eight operators had already had their contracts terminated because, according to a report by the City Court of Audit, funds are said to have been misused. As reported by the news agency APA, the current funding freeze thus joins an entire series of suspected cases. The city speaks of a consistent approach against irregularities.
