After a funeral procession through Tehran lasting roughly ten hours, the body of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei arrived in the city of Qom late on Monday evening. According to Iranian state media, the convoy moved for a distance of approximately 20 kilometers through the capital before continuing its route toward the holy city. Qom is considered one of the most important religious centers of Shia Islam and is home to significant theological seminaries.

Iranian state television spoke of millions of participants along the route. This figure could not be independently verified. Footage from state television showed dense crowds, mourners dressed in black, and a number of coffins being carried through the streets on vehicles. According to reports, these included several coffins — among them Khamenei's own as well as others brought along as part of the funeral ceremonies.
