Garmin announced the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro smartwatches on August 25, 2026, which are equipped with a brighter AMOLED display, a titanium case, and optional satellite communication for emergencies outside the cellular network.
With the new generation, Garmin expands its outdoor watch family by two models. The Fenix 9 and the Fenix 9 Pro are aimed at athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who also rely on reliable data transmission in remote regions. In addition to the brighter AMOLED display, both watches feature a titanium case.
Satellite Communication and Emergency Function
The Pro variants differ, among other things, in the ability to send messages and LiveTrack data via the inReach satellite network. This allows users to share their location even without cellular coverage and to place an SOS call in an emergency. The connection runs through the Garmin Response coordination center, which forwards emergency calls to the responsible rescue services.
