During work in the garage of a residential building in Neumarkt im Hausruckkreis in Upper Austria on Thursday at around 5 p.m., a gas line was damaged, after which around 40 residents had to leave their homes and at times nearly 1,000 households were without electricity.
The gas leak occurred on Thursday afternoon at around 5 p.m. in a residential settlement in Neumarkt im Hausruckkreis in the district of Grieskirchen. According to the emergency services, a gas line was pierced during work in the garage of a residential building. The escaping gas led to the main gas valve being shut off and the entire affected residential settlement being cleared as a precaution.
