German states and municipalities have raised concerns about gaps in Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt's €10 billion civil protection plan, calling for clearer regulations and more substantial investment.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) announced plans to invest €10 billion in civil and disaster protection by 2029, aiming to strengthen Germany's resilience against crises. 'The current threat situation requires not only equipping the Bundeswehr but also upgrading civil defense and population protection,' Dobrindt stated.

However, states and municipalities have identified significant gaps in the proposal. Georg Maier, a representative from Thuringia, emphasized the need for federal support: 'We naturally need the support of the federal government to equip the states accordingly so that we can fulfill our tasks in disaster protection.'
