A 29-year-old swimmer from Germany saved a 60-year-old local woman from drowning at Reintaler See near Kramsach in Tyrol after she had gotten into acute distress while swimming about 40 meters from shore.

The incident occurred on Friday at Reintaler See in the municipality of Kramsach in the Tyrolean Unterland. According to consistent media reports, the 60-year-old had suddenly run into difficulties while swimming, apparently triggered by circulatory problems. As she swallowed water while attempting to roll onto her back, she was about 40 meters from shore and in danger of going under.

A 29-year-old swimmer from Germany, who was also in the water, quickly recognized the situation according to the reports. He grabbed a lifebuoy, jumped into the water, and swam to the woman. He then pulled her out of the lake and brought her to safety.

Rescue with ring in the nick of time
