Vingegaard Overcomes Scare

Overall leader Jonas Vingegaard faced a moment of concern roughly 60 kilometers from the finish when he suffered a mechanical problem. The two-time Tour de France winner was able to rejoin the peloton without difficulty and crossed the line safely in the main group.

Vingegaard had earlier shown his strength by being the first rider to crest a short but sharp climb approximately 10 kilometers before the finish. The Dane remains firmly in control of the general classification.

He leads Austrian Felix Gall by 4 minutes and 3 seconds, with Dutchman Thymen Arensman a further 24 seconds back in third place overall.

The Battle for the Breakaway

The stage was animated by a four-rider breakaway that formed after several attempts on the undulating terrain. The peloton kept the escapees on a manageable leash and eventually reeled them in to set up the sprint finale.

Afonso Eulalio, who wore the pink jersey until last weekend, crashed with 50 kilometers remaining. The Portuguese rider was able to rejoin the main field and even launched several attacks in the finale, though his efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful.
