A hare on the roadway caused two injuries during the 24-hour cycling marathon in Pollham in the district of Grieskirchen in Upper Austria in the night to Sunday, as police announced in a press release on Sunday.

As police reported in a press release on Sunday, the incident occurred on Saturday evening at around 10:10 p.m. on the L1223 in the municipal area of Pollham. At the "24h Radmarathon Grieskirchen," two participants were injured in a crash in Pollham (district of Grieskirchen) on Saturday evening. The competition, in which endurance athletes complete as many laps as possible on a course over 24 hours, was still in full swing at the time of the accident.
According to initial investigations, a 30-year-old participant from the district of Eferding tried to avoid the animal on the roadway and crashed with his racing bike. "Ein 30-jähriger Teilnehmer wollte dem Tier auf der Fahrbahn ausweichen und kam zu Sturz," the police account states. The man fell onto the roadway and remained lying on the ground.
