In France, the weather service Météo France issued the highest red alert level on Thursday for 72 of 101 departments, while Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu declared the highest crisis mode for the healthcare system and drinking water became scarce in the Paris suburbs.
Red Alert and Historic Temperatures
France is heading toward the peak of a historic heatwave. The weather service Météo France issued the highest red alert level from noon for 72 departments, covering the largest part of the country. In Paris, temperatures of up to 42 degrees Celsius were forecast for Thursday, as reported by the channel TF1.
