The German Weather Service (DWD) expects temperatures of up to 36 degrees in southwestern Germany in the coming days, along with tropical nights in metropolitan areas, but is announcing noticeable cooling by the weekend.
Germany faces more hot days: In the southwest, temperatures are once again expected to exceed 35 degrees according to the German Weather Service (DWD), with up to 35 degrees in the Rhine-Main region. In the remaining regions, highs will be around 30 degrees, and around 25 degrees along the coasts. "With up to 36 degrees, it will be very hot again in the southwest," said DWD meteorologist Markus Eifried.
The heat stress continues at night as well: In metropolitan areas in the southwest, temperatures will only drop to around 20 degrees according to the DWD, meeting the criteria for so-called tropical nights. Tropical nights are defined as nights when the temperature does not fall below 20 degrees – a burden particularly for elderly people and those without air-conditioned living spaces.
