The Houthi militia has shelled the Yemeni port city of Mokha with several ballistic missiles and drones, according to the Houthi-affiliated television channel Al-Masirah. Al-Masirah released footage purportedly showing the launch of the projectiles. The city lies on the Red Sea, near the strategically important Bab al-Mandab strait.

Mokha is one of the larger port cities in southern Yemen and has repeatedly been the scene of clashes between the Houthi militia and pro-government forces in recent months. The Houthis control large parts of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, while the internationally recognized government, backed by regional allies, operates in the south and east of the country.
