A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer on Tuesday shot and killed Mexican immigrant Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, after the agency said he drove his vehicle into an officer.

What the Agency Reports

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Salgado defied officers' instructions, rammed an ICE operations vehicle with his car, and then attempted to run over an officer with his vehicle. An ICE officer then opened fire. A statement read, according to available information: "Based on the information available to us, he rammed an ICE operations vehicle, ignored multiple verbal commands, and used his vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to run over an ICE federal employee, after which our employee used his service weapon in self-defense."
