A survey by the Ifo Institute shows that companies in Germany expect falling wages when using artificial intelligence — particularly for less experienced employees.
The Ifo Institute surveyed companies in Germany on the impact of AI use on the pay of their employees. The result is clear: a majority of firms assume that salaries will fall as a result of the use of artificial intelligence. Employers see employees with little work experience as particularly affected.
Service Providers Expect the Steepest Cuts
In a sector comparison, service providers in particular expect wage cuts. 53.3 percent of companies in this sector forecast salary losses for career entrants without a university degree. For more experienced staff, the share is lower at 44.2 percent, but still high. As a result, the expectation of falling wages is more widespread in the service sectors than in other branches of the economy.
