Every seventh company in Germany has employment references created with the help of artificial intelligence, according to the digital association Bitkom.

According to a Bitkom study published on Monday, 14 percent of the surveyed companies use AI tools to formulate employment references. A further 35 percent can imagine such use or are specifically planning it. This makes reference-writing one of the more common fields of application for artificial intelligence in personnel work, even though the figure falls below the average for other HR tasks.

AI is currently most widespread in individual employee training: 16 percent of companies already use corresponding tools (2024: 12 percent), and a further 58 percent can imagine doing so.
