Expansion in Ireland: Focus on the Intel 3 process

The US chipmaker Intel is pushing ahead with its investments in Europe. As the company announced on 13 July 2026, around five billion euros will flow into the existing Leixlip site, located roughly 19 kilometres west of Dublin. Intel pointed to strong demand for semiconductors for AI data centres. The expansion includes new production machines as well as the extension of the automated conveyor system that is meant to link the various campus modules into a unified high-speed production environment. With the investment, Intel wants to maximise capacities and increase delivery volumes for Intel Foundry customers, as the Chief Technology and Operations Officer and General Manager of Intel Foundry, Naga Chandrasekaran, explained: „Diese Investition in Höhe von fünf Milliarden Euro ist ein klares Bekenntnis dazu, die Kapazitäten an unserem Standort Leixlip zu maximieren und das Liefervolumen für Kunden von Intel Foundry zu steigern".
