The International Skating Union (ISU) has lifted its ban on Russian and Belarusian figure skaters and officials that had been in place since February 2022, allowing them to compete internationally once again under neutral status starting from the upcoming season.
Conditions for the Return
The International Skating Union (ISU) announced this decision on Tuesday, thereby lifting the ban on athletes and officials that had been in effect since the beginning of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine in February 2022. According to the world federation, Russian figure skaters will once again be able to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes starting from the upcoming season. In addition to the Russians, athletes from Belarus will also be able to compete at World Championships and Grand Prix events under neutral status.
