Washington, 10 August 2026
The United States recorded its hottest month on record in July 2026, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed, with more than 600 stations logging new high-temperature marks across the contiguous United States.
A month of broken records
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced that July 2026 was the hottest month in the contiguous United States since national records began in 1895. The finding extends a pattern of record-warm months that climate scientists have been tracking for several years, with the previous hottest JULY recorded in 2023 and the previous hottest month overall recorded in 2024.
