Kleve, July 23, 2026
The Kleve Regional Court has sentenced a 30-year-old professional truck driver, who had worked for years as an emergency paramedic using forged papers, to ten years in prison because his improper treatment in August 2025 led to the death of an 80-year-old man from Kamp-Lintfort.
Background: Impostor fraud in emergency services
The judges at the Kleve Regional Court found the defendant guilty on Thursday of manslaughter, attempted dangerous bodily harm, and document forgery in two cases. The sentence is significantly higher than the prosecution's request, which had demanded eight years and six months. The defense, by contrast, had sought only 18 months for dangerous bodily harm and nine months for document forgery. The verdict is not yet final; an appeal is possible.
