Germany's Tamara Korpatsch reached the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career at the French Open in Paris on Wednesday, while compatriot Eva Lys was eliminated.

The world number 95, a 31-year-old right-hander from Hamburg, defeated China's Wang Xinyu 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in a match lasting 2 hours and 13 minutes on Court 7. Korpatsch, who wears glasses during matches due to light sensitivity, will next face Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.

The encounter was marked by tension. Wang received a warning for crossing to Korpatsch's side of the court to inspect a ball mark, a prohibited action. Wang later complained that Korpatsch had allegedly shown the umpire a different ball mark during the incident.
