Eva Lys, a 24-year-old also from Hamburg, saw her tournament end on Wednesday evening with a 3-6, 0-6 defeat to Romania's Sorana Cirstea. Lys had opened her Paris campaign by beating Croatian Petra Marcinko in the first round. Her best Grand Slam result remains reaching the round of 16 at the 2025 Australian Open.

Lys Falls in Straight Sets

In other women's action, Iga Swiatek of Poland, seeded third, moved into the round of 16 by defeating compatriot Magda Linette 6-4, 6-4. Swiatek, who lost to Karolina Muchova in the 2023 final here, continued her pursuit of a fifth Roland Garros title.

Mirra Andrejewa advanced in straight sets, beating Czech 27th seed Marie Bouzkova 6-4, 6-2. Marta Kostjuk, the 15th seed, defeated Viktorija Golubic 6-4, 6-3.

Jil Teichmann upset Karolina Muchova 6-1, 7-5. Muchova was the runner-up to Swiatek in the 2023 final.

Swiatek and Rublev Advance

In the men's draw, Andrey Rublev reached the round of 16 with a straight-set victory over Nuno Borges, winning 7-5, 7-6 (7/2), 7-6 (7/2).

In men's doubles, Vienna's Neil Oberleitner and Czech partner Petr Nouza advanced to the quarterfinals via walkover after Belgian opponents Zizou Bergs and Raphael Collignon withdrew. Collignon had played a third-round singles match the previous day. Oberleitner and Nouza will face Czech duo Adam Pavlasek and Patrik Rikl.
