Austrian football champion LASK Linz has signed midfielder Robert Ljubicic on loan from Greek first-division club AEK Athens and has secured a purchase option.
As the Austrian champion announced on Wednesday, the 27-year-old midfielder is moving on loan from Greek first-division club AEK Athens to the Linz-based side. The transfer has been finalized, as multiple sources report consistently.
Didi Kühbauer, who bears sporting responsibility at LASK as Sporting Director, sees Ljubicic as a reinforcement for central midfield. The double winner also secured a purchase option, so that the club could permanently bind the player if his development warrants it. The midfielder will wear the number 10 shirt at LASK.
Player profile and role in midfield
Robert Ljubicic is not an unknown name in Austria. After early stints in youth football and in Austrian professional football, he took the step abroad and earned a regular starting spot at AEK Athens in Greece. Now the Austrian-born player is returning to his homeland.
