Nabatieh, Lebanon — May 12, 2026
Lebanon's health workers are risking their lives to save others as Israeli airstrikes continue to devastate southern communities.
Rising Casualties and Defiant Medics
Lebanon's health ministry reported that Israeli strikes on Tuesday killed 13 people in the south, including two rescuers who were responding to an earlier raid in Nabatieh. The victims included a wounded person the rescuers had attempted to save. The ministry condemned Israel's actions, accusing it of "complete disregard for all international norms."
Despite the dangers, medics in Lebanon remain steadfast. Dozens of volunteers are living temporarily at a small hospital, eating, sleeping, and praying while waiting to respond to the next airstrike. Their determination underscores the dire humanitarian situation as Israel and Hezbollah exchange fire across the border.
