Athens, July 12, 2026

The 18-year-old Austrian tennis player Lilli Tagger qualified on Sunday for the main draw of the WTA 250 hard-court tournament in Athens.

The 18-year-old defeated the American Madison Sieg 6-0, 6-3 in the second round of qualifying on Sunday. Following the clear victory in just two sets, Tagger is now in the main draw of the tournament in the Greek capital.

Bye and commanding performance

One win was enough for the ÖTV player, as she had a bye in the opening round as the top-seeded player. That meant she only had to play from the second round of qualifying, and she took that opportunity commandingly. The ÖTV – the Austrian Tennis Federation – thus sees another of its own young players succeeding on the WTA Tour.
