Austrian tennis player Sinja Kraus qualified for the French Open main draw for the first time in her career after defeating Germany's Noma Noha Akugue in a grueling three-set match on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Kraus, ranked 101st in the WTA rankings, overcame a slow start to win 6-7(5), 6-0, 7-5 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 38 minutes. She converted her second match point to secure the victory.

Kraus showed dominance in the second set, not allowing her 22-year-old opponent Akugue (WTA-164) to win a single game. However, the first and third sets were closely contested battles.

This marks a significant milestone for Kraus, who had previously only reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2023. Her performances at Roland Garros in recent years had seen her exit in the first round (2023 and 2025) or second round (2024).
