The British government imposed sanctions on Monday against seven Russian individuals and two scientific institutes, which it holds partly responsible for two poison attacks.

Background to the sanctions

According to a statement by the Foreign Office in London, the measures concern the attack on former Russian double agent Skripal using the nerve agent Novichok in 2018, in which an uninvolved woman lost her life. The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on Russian scientists and research institutions that it holds partly responsible for two poison attacks. Seven individuals and two scientific institutes in Russia are being sanctioned.
