Because of the low water level of the Danube, the remains of Wehrmacht soldiers from the Second World War have been exposed in Budapest and are now to be recovered by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge.
In Budapest, falling water levels of the Danube have revealed the mortal remains of Wehrmacht soldiers from the Second World War. The Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, which coordinates the search for and burial of war dead on behalf of the German federal government, announced that the remains had been discovered on the banks of the Danube. The recovery is being carried out in close coordination with the competent Hungarian authorities and the Institute for Military History.
