French President Emmanuel Macron has demanded an end to the violent unrest that swept across France after Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final victory, as authorities reported nearly 780 arrests and 57 police officers injured nationwide.

The celebrations, which followed PSG's 4-3 penalty shootout win over FC Arsenal in Budapest, turned chaotic in around 15 cities, with particularly severe clashes reported in Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg, Clermont-Ferrand, and Grenoble. Videos circulating on social media showed cars set ablaze, barricades erected in streets, and fireworks launched at security forces.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez told a press conference on Sunday that the disturbances, while anticipated, were completely unacceptable. "Es gab feierliche Demonstrationen, die von einer Reihe von Ausschreitungen begleitet waren, was der Situation entspricht, die wir erwartet und daher vorausgesehen hatten. Diese Ausschreitungen sind absolut inakzeptabel," Nuñez stated.
