The Canadian automotive supplier Magna is planning to close its plant in the Lower Franconian town of Dorfprozelten. As the company announced, 216 employees are to be affected by the plant closure. The facility produces exterior and rearview mirrors and is set to be shut down by the middle of next year. The move is attributed to a persistently negative business and market development.

The IG Metall union expressed outrage over the decision. The union criticized that management had decided not to further develop the central future technology for the site, "LC mirror glass," and not to bring it to series production readiness.
