Major Find in Hamburg: More Than 1.2 Tons of Cannabis from Thailand Seized

According to the information, one of those arrested was a man from the Diepholz district.

Arrests in Szczecin and Poznań

In the same month, task forces again seized another container with around 800 kilograms of cannabis in the Port of Hamburg. This container also made its way to Poland without the illegal cargo, this time to Poznań. Officers arrested four more suspected smugglers, including the second man from the Diepholz district.

According to investigators, the suspects from the Diepholz district are said to have been responsible for logistical tasks. A total of eight suspects were arrested in Poland, and six alleged dealers are now in pre-trial detention, according to the authorities. The group is said to have continued their drug trade despite the police operation.

International Cooperation

The international raid was organized by officers from Hanover Customs, the Oldenburg Police, the Verden Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Polish Border Guard. The Customs Criminal Office describes it as a "großen Erfolg" in a statement. Investigators are now searching for further individuals involved.

The German-Polish group is suspected of having smuggled the drugs by sea from Thailand to Europe. Officers initially seized 400 kilograms of cannabis in Hamburg, with a further 800 kilograms following in the same month. In total, customs and police thus seized more than 1.2 tons of cannabis with an estimated street value of twelve million euros.
