Major raid in Kufstein: Police bust suspected drug ring with kilogram-scale seizures

The suspected total scale of the trafficking is substantial: Since at least the beginning of 2025, the group is alleged to have circulated nearly two kilograms of cocaine as well as around 39 kilograms of cannabis herb in the Kufstein area. The quantities are significantly above what is typically seized for purely consumption-related offenses and point to a cross-regional distribution network.

According to police, cannabis resin, suspected dealer utensils, and data storage devices were also seized during the searches. Investigators are currently evaluating communication devices and accounting records to identify possible ringleaders and money flows. Arrests and custody issues

Several of the suspects were taken to the Innsbruck correctional facility over the weekend. The competent judge decided on Monday during the initial interrogations on the specific grounds for detention – whether pre-trial detention due to risk of tampering with evidence or flight, or a milder measure. The Innsbruck Public Prosecutor's Office merely confirmed the receipt of applications.

According to police, the suspects come from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania. The group thus covers several nationalities, which investigators interpret as an indication of a division-of-labor organizational structure. The authorities hope to gain insights into the exact distribution of roles within the network – from procurement and distribution to money laundering – from the evaluation of the confiscated mobile phones.

Legal consequences and further investigations

Legally, the suspects face serious charges: Given the quantities seized, convictions could carry multi-year prison sentences under the Narcotic Substances Act. Should the suspicion of armed involvement be substantiated, additional offenses would come into consideration. The authorities do not rule out that the investigations could have repercussions beyond Tyrol.

The Tyrolean police announced that they will continue the investigations and are examining links to other narcotics proceedings in the border area.
