A 33-year-old man attempted to exchange counterfeit money for chips at the cashier of a Viennese gambling venue, with the attempted fraud being uncovered quickly, according to police statements.

What happened at the casino

The incident took place at a casino in Vienna, when the 33-year-old appeared at the cashier and tried to exchange a considerable amount of counterfeit money for gaming tokens, so-called chips. Staff at the venue noticed the fake banknotes and immediately raised the alarm, as police reported on Saturday.

Police were notified and arrived at the gambling venue shortly afterward. Officers took the 33-year-old into custody on site and secured the suspected counterfeit notes. Findings regarding the exact amount of the counterfeit money as well as any possible accomplices have not yet been publicly quantified by the investigators.
