Man Seriously Injured in Slide Collision at Weinheim Leisure Pool

The Mannheim public prosecutor's office stated that the criminal police are investigating the cause of the accident. A spokesperson for the office confirmed the incident and the resuscitation, but said she could not provide information on the man's current health condition.

According to the Miramar spokesperson, the 25-year-old and his companions appear to have disregarded a key safety rule. The rule stipulates that slide users may only enter one after another and with a distance between them.

Safety Rules and Facility Standards

The spokesperson suspects a violation of the slide's usage and safety rules as the cause of the accident. There were no indications of a technical defect, according to Lara Steinhart of Miramar management.

The slide is regularly inspected and operated in accordance with applicable regulations, Miramar stated. There is also no indication of misconduct by staff members.

Rescue services were alerted immediately. However, at the time of the accident, there was no perceived need to alert the police. The Miramar spokesperson explained that pool staff generally only involve the police in cases of a criminal offense, technical failure, or when 'something bigger' has happened.

Delayed Police Notification

Miramar staff initially considered the incident a 'normal' swimming accident. It only later became clear how seriously the 25-year-old had been injured.

A police spokesperson told SWR that the incident was only reported to them afterwards. The spokesperson did not comment on possible reasons for the delayed reporting.

According to Miramar, police officers were at the leisure pool on Thursday and received security camera videos and other documents as part of the ongoing investigation.
