Grevenbroich, 01 July 2026
The US software group Microsoft has announced the construction of a fourth data center in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Grevenbroich, extending its largest investment push in Germany.
The company chose the town of 69,000 inhabitants as the location, Microsoft manager Ansgar Baums said on 1 July 2026 at the Handelsblatt conference "Datacenter-Standort Deutschland." According to the newspaper, the site is located during the day between the logistics centers of TST and Lidl; in addition, the site of the decommissioned Frimmersdorf power plant is being developed, as the Neuß-Grevenbroicher Zeitung reported in March 2026. Microsoft has already acquired 23 hectares of land. A building permit had not yet been issued at the time of reporting.
