Rendsburg, 14 July 2026
A 118-meter-long middle section of the new Rader Hochbrücke on the A7 motorway was loaded onto a floating pontoon in the Kiel Canal on Monday and is to be installed into the bridge by heavy-duty cranes during the night.
The new bridge construction on the A7 near Rendsburg is entering a decisive phase: According to the available reports, the 118-meter-long middle section of the new Rader Hochbrücke has been loaded onto a special pontoon. The component is now positioned in the Kiel Canal, ready to be brought to its final location.
Transport by water
In preparation, the 118-meter-long section was loaded onto a floating pontoon, as stated in the reports. This unusual method of transport is necessary because the bridge segment, due to its length and weight, can no longer be brought to the construction site by land.
