The Austrian-Portuguese doubles team of Lucas Miedler and Francisco Cabral advanced to the round of 16 of the men's doubles at the Wimbledon Championships on Friday.
The 11th-seeded duo defeated Peru's Ignacio Buse and Argentina's Marco Trungelliti 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the third round. After losing the first set, Miedler and Cabral turned the match around and won the following two sets convincingly.
The first set went disappointingly for the top-seeded duo, as they fell behind early after losing their serve and dropped the set 4-6. In the second set, however, the two players noticeably raised their level, held serve consistently, and converted their chances to level the match at 6-4.
In the decisive third set, Miedler and Cabral dominated proceedings and gave their opponents little chance in a 6-1 finish. The result reflected the increase in performance over the course of the match.
