The Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis won gold at the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm, while Britain's Amy Hunt became the most successful athlete of the championships with four titles.

The Swedish local hero Mondo Duplantis won the gold medal in pole vault on the final day of the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm. In front of a home crowd, the 26-year-old used his routine approach rhythm and cleared the decisive height on his first attempt. With that, the exceptional athlete, who has dominated the global pole vault scene for years, returned to the top of the European stage.

Even before the pole vaulters' final, Britain's Amy Hunt had already written her name into the history books as the most successful athlete of these European Championships. She had previously secured three titles in the 100m, 200m, and with the 4x100m relay, and on the final day she completed her collection with the mixed 100m quartet. With a total of four gold medals, she surpassed all her rivals and became the sporting face of these championships.
