Several forest fires broke out in the Austrian district of Lungau, affecting among other things the areas of Zederhau and Moosalm, while rescue teams managed to declare the end of the flames in the middle hours of the day.

Timeline of the operations

Several forest fires broke out in the district of Lungau, in Salzburg, particularly affecting the areas of Zederhau and Moosalm. The flames developed during a phase characterized by weather conditions that, in summer, in alpine areas can favor the spread of fire. The district of Lungau, located in the south-eastern part of the Land of Salzburg, includes mountainous and wooded territories that require constant surveillance during the hot season.

Firefighters and response teams were mobilized in the middle hours of the day to reach the reported points. The extinguishing operations made it possible to bring the situation under control and to communicate the end of the emergency. An operational note released on the course of the operations reports verbatim: "In den Mittagsstunden konnte dann 'Brand aus' gegeben werden."
