A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Wels was clocked doing 156 km/h in a 50 zone on Salzburger Straße in the early hours of Monday morning, and his driver's license was provisionally confiscated.

As the executive reported, the motorcycle rider came to attention during a speed check around 5:30 a.m. in Wels with grossly excessive speed on Salzburger Straße in the urban area. The limit there was 50 km/h; he was measured at 156 km/h – an excess of more than 200 percent.

The 26-year-old, who according to police is from Wels, was riding his motorcycle alone as far as current investigations show. According to information available so far, no one was injured.

Facts on the incident

Due to the significant speeding violation, the man had his driver's license provisionally confiscated and was immediately prohibited from continuing to ride the vehicle. This means he may not operate any motor vehicle on public roads until further notice.
