A mountaineer who was seriously injured in a fall on the Patteriol in Tyrol has died in an Innsbruck clinic.

Rescue under extreme conditions

The woman had fallen on Saturday in the area of the scree gully on the Patteriol near St. Anton am Arlberg and sustained the most severe injuries in the process. As the rescue teams reported, the recovery proved exceptionally difficult due to the extremely impassable terrain in the Verwall group. The crew of the emergency medical helicopter "Martin 2" had to recover the seriously injured woman using a rope crash recovery because of the extremely impassable terrain.

After emergency medical treatment on site, the mountaineer was flown to a clinic in Innsbruck. There she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, as confirmed by the police. The exact circumstances of the fall are still being investigated.
