Two young men attacked an Islamic center in San Diego on Monday, leaving multiple dead before committing suicide, according to police reports.
The shooting occurred at an Islamic center in Clairemont, a neighborhood of San Diego, California's second-largest city. Witnesses reported hearing approximately 30 gunshots before police arrived on the scene.
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl stated that officers found victims outside the center upon arrival. 'The threat was neutralized,' Wahl confirmed during a press briefing.
The two suspects, identified as a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, were found dead in a vehicle on the premises from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Their motives remain under investigation.
California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the attack, stating: 'Hate has no place in California, and we will not tolerate acts of terror or intimidation against faith communities.'
