Network costs for electricity in Austria will fall by an average of 3.6 percent in 2027 under a new regulation, while network charges in the gas sector are expected to increase by around seven percent.

The new electricity regulation provides for an average reduction of 3.6 percent in network costs for 2027. This means consumers in Austria should collectively bear lower electricity network costs next year.

The extent of the relief may vary by region. In the federal states mentioned – including Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria with Linz, Styria with Graz, Carinthia, Burgenland and Vorarlberg – the new network charges will be adjusted differently, according to the available information.

However, the trend in network charges is not the same for all energy sources. While electricity network costs are falling, network charges in the gas sector are expected to rise by an average of around seven percent.
