Archaeologists have gained new insights into the eventful history of the tomb of Emperor Otto the Great (912–973) in Magdeburg Cathedral during investigations at its site, without being able to determine with certainty the original burial place of the emperor.
During archaeological investigations at the site of the tomb of Emperor Otto the Great (912–973) in Magdeburg Cathedral, new insights have been gained into the turbulent history of the significant monument. The background is considerable damage to the tomb, which was already identified in 2024 and has since been documented as part of an extensive project for documentation and conservation.
